Who is Elliot Holden?
Humble Beginnings...
Born in Germany and raised in Georgia, Elliot is no doubt one of the most amazing talents to surface from Augusta, Georgia since James Brown. Elliot began playing guitar at age 14 during his freshman year of high school. After hearing a sound-page out of Guitar Player magazine of Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover", Elliot found his calling. From then on he practiced relentlessly (7-10 hours a day to be more exact) and within 2 years he started his first band called "The Minorities". He was a leader from the start, a quality that has helped him in his quest for a record deal. After "The Minorities" disbanded Elliot began to sit in with other musicians around the Augusta area and was soon making a name for himself locally. Known for his fast blues runs and Lenny Breau like harmonic techniques, Elliot caught the attention of Jazz saxophonist legend Toby Boone.
The Journey............
Elliot continued to write his own tunes and develop his own style. He played with the group for one year before moving to Atlanta, GA in 1993. While in Atlanta, he began working as an intern at a recording studio called "Darp", owned by R&B producer, Dallas Austin. He soon found out that his calling was in the recording booth not behind the mixing console. So, Elliot eventually moved on and started a new band called "The Elements of Change". This is when Elliot really started to come into his own being. By placing a musician wanted ad in a local Atlanta newspaper he came into contact with Yonrico Scott, the drummer for Derek Trucks. Elliot began to jam with Yonrico on occasion and was eventually asked to jam on stage at one of their performances; this opportunity gave the hungry artist a taste of the spotlight, making him work harder on his dream. Elliot moved back to Augusta in late 1994 and was asked to join another Augusta band called "First Born". As a member of "First Born", Elliot had the opportunity to tour the east coast opening for "G-Love and Special Sauce". Even though the regional success was nice and the group had interest from labels Elliot knew that his destiny was being the leader of his own group.
The Turning Point...
Once again he moved on but this time it was for a different reason. Elliot realized early on that to gain a competitive advantage in the often over-crowded world of the music business he would have to develop other skills besides guitar playing. He took a two-year hiatus from music to attend Augusta Technical College where he received an Associates degree in computer networking and completed the Cisco System CCNA certification. He then possessed the knowledge to take his music to the masses by using the Internet. He used his skills to create his own website a great landmark in his career. He worked at a hospital as a computer technician for a year to polish his computer skills. In 2001 he quit his job and decided to pursue music full time.
